- Wherra Jack was a talented story teller and carver of boab nuts. He was in gaol for a tribal killing. With a few others ED was instrumental in presenting a petition to Queen Elizabeth II for his release. Soon after the Queen's visit to Broome in 1963 Wherra Jack was freed.
