- This painting gives the title to the series. The figures are engaged in the endless task of spinning animal fur and human hair which is used in decoration for ceremonies. The work itself is attended by ritual movements and words. The following is a translation from one of the songs:
Spinning. Spinning. Spinning the Cord to Alcheringa. The time long past that we make new, that lives again as we sing, that we live in again as we sing, that lives in us again as we sing. Along the Cord travel the Spirits. They travel along the Cord. The great Spirit Ancestors. They will travel along the Cord. The Cord is a living road for the Spirits — the Cord to Alcheringa.
