- Prisoner in the Broome jail. Renowned carver of boab nuts and narrator of traditional lore. Soon after the visit in 1963 of Queen ELizabeth II to Broome, Wherra Jack (alt: Jack Wherra) was released after serving almost 20 years for a tribal killing.
